How It Works
When you submit a trade-in request through our website, you are offering to sell your device to Sell Techs based on the information you provide, including the device type, model, storage, network status, condition and any other details requested during the quote process.
We will only accept your device for purchase once it has been received, inspected and either confirmed at the original quoted price or accepted by you at a revised offer price.
Ownership of the device transfers to Sell Techs only when the final offer has been accepted and payment has been issued, unless the device is reported lost, stolen, blocked, counterfeit, non-genuine or subject to legal restriction.
You may cancel your trade-in request before sending the device to us. Once the device has been sent, you may still decline a revised offer where one is made, subject to the return rules in these Terms.
Who Can Use Our Service
By submitting a trade-in request, you confirm that:
- You are at least 18 years old;
- You are resident in Great Britain or Northern Ireland;
- You are legally capable of entering into a binding agreement;
- The device is yours to sell and you have full legal authority to sell it;
- The information you provide is true, accurate and complete;
- You are not selling the device on behalf of another person unless you have full authority to do so.
Ownership, Finance & Legal Restrictions
You must own all rights, title and interest in any device you send to us. You must have full legal authority to sell the device.
You must not send a device that is:
- Lost, stolen, blocked, barred or reported missing;
- Subject to finance, hire purchase, lease, rental, insurance claim, business ownership or third-party ownership;
- Subject to an unpaid network, carrier, business, finance or insurance restriction;
- Counterfeit, non-genuine, modified to deceive, cloned, tampered with or not matching the stated make and model;
- Locked to an account in a way that prevents inspection, testing, resetting, repair, reuse or resale.
We may request proof of purchase, proof of ownership, identification or further information before making payment or returning a device.
Quotes, Pricing & Accessories
Website prices may change without notice. Quotes are based on the device details and condition selected by you at the time of submitting the trade-in request.
Quotes are guaranteed for 14 days from order approval, provided the device is received within that period and the model, specification, network status, condition and other details are accurate.
Devices received after the quote guarantee period may be revalued. You may accept the revised offer or request return of the device, subject to these Terms.
Accessories, chargers, boxes, cases and packaging do not increase the value of your device unless clearly stated on the quote page. Accessories sent with the device may be recycled and may not be returned if the device is returned.
Device Conditions
Devices must match the make, model and specification in the trade-in request and fit the condition selected. The main condition categories are:
Good
• Fully functional and powers on/off correctly;
• Light to moderate cosmetic wear only;
• No cracks, chips, bent housing, missing parts, deep scratches, engraving or severe discolouration;
• Screen must be clear with no pixel damage, defects or discolouration;
• Battery health must be 80% or above where battery health can be checked;
• No water damage or triggered liquid indicators.
All main features must work, including calls, Wi-Fi, camera, touchscreen, charging, buttons, speakers, microphone and operating system.

All main features must work, even if cosmetic wear is heavy.
Broken

• Cracked screen, cracked back glass, faulty touchscreen, faulty camera, charging issues or poor battery capacity may be accepted;

When We Receive Your Device
We aim to check devices within 48 hours of receipt, Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays. Delays can occur during busy periods, courier disruption or where additional checks are required.
- If your device matches the trade-in request details and declared condition, we will process payment using your selected payment method.
- If your device does not match the declared condition, model, storage, network status, battery health or other order details, we will email you a revised offer and explain the reason for the change.
- You will have 7 calendar days to accept or decline the revised offer.
- We will not process payment at the revised price unless you accept the revised offer.
- If we do not receive a response, we may send a reminder and place the order on hold.
- If we receive no response after reasonable contact attempts, we may return the device where reasonable or deal with it under our unclaimed-device process.
- If we receive no response for 90 days after reasonable contact attempts, the device may be treated as unclaimed and responsibly recycled, disposed of or otherwise dealt with in line with these Terms and applicable law.
We cannot be responsible for emails not seen because of incorrect email details, spam filters or mailbox issues. Please check your inbox, spam and junk folders after sending your device.
Locked Devices, Accounts & Passwords
You must remove all passwords, passcodes, screen locks, account locks and associated accounts before sending your device to us. This includes iCloud, Find My iPhone/iPad, Google, Samsung and any similar account-lock or device-location service.
Your device must either be unlocked to any UK network or match the network status selected when you submitted your trade-in request. If the device is locked to a network, account, password or security service that prevents inspection, testing, resetting, repair, reuse or resale, we may not be able to offer any value for the device.
If your device remains locked, we will contact you using the email address provided with your order and ask you to remove the lock or provide further information. You will have 7 calendar days to respond.
If we do not receive a response within 7 calendar days, we may place the order on hold and send a reminder. If the lock is not removed after reasonable contact attempts, the device may be revalued, rejected, returned where reasonable, or treated as an unclaimed device under these Terms.
You acknowledge that the value of a locked device, and any revised offer connected to a locked device, may be £0 where the device cannot be inspected, reset, reused, repaired or resold.
Revised Offers After Inspection
After we receive your device, we will carry out checks to confirm the model, storage, network status, condition, account-lock status, functionality and any other details relevant to the quote.
If the device does not match the information provided when the trade-in request was created, we will send you a revised offer by email and explain the reason for the change. This may happen where the device is a different model, storage size, colour, network status or condition, or where the device has faults, damage, account locks, poor battery health, missing parts or other issues not declared during the quote process.
You will have 7 calendar days to accept or decline the revised offer. We will not process payment at the revised price unless you accept the revised offer.
If you do not respond within 7 calendar days, we may send a reminder and place the order on hold. If we still do not receive a response after reasonable contact attempts, we may return the device where reasonable or deal with it under our unclaimed-device process.
We assess device values based on our inspection results, the device condition, current market value, repair cost, resale value and these Terms. You may decline a revised offer unless the device is lost, stolen, counterfeit, non-genuine, legally restricted, unsafe to return, or otherwise cannot legally or reasonably be returned.
Data, Accounts, SIM Cards & eSIMs
You are responsible for removing all personal data, SIM cards, memory cards, eSIMs, passcodes, passwords and account locks before sending your device.
Please remove iCloud, Find My iPhone/iPad, Google, Samsung and any other brand-specific account locks before posting. Devices that remain account locked may be revalued, rejected, returned at your cost, or held until the lock is removed.
We are not responsible for data left on devices, charges from SIM cards or eSIMs, or data on devices that cannot be accessed or reset, except where the law says we remain responsible.
SIM cards and memory cards are non-returnable and may be destroyed or disposed of securely. If your device is non-functional but supports remote wipe, we recommend attempting a remote wipe before sending it.
For more information about how we handle personal data, please read our Privacy Policy . For information about cookies and tracking technologies used on our website, please read our Cookie Policy .
Lost, Stolen, Blocked or Legally Restricted Devices
All devices may be checked against relevant lost, stolen, barred, blocked, finance, account-lock and fraud-prevention databases, including CheckMEND and/or PhoneCheck where applicable.
Devices reported lost, stolen, barred, blocked, counterfeit, non-genuine or subject to legal restriction may be quarantined for up to 28 days or longer where required by law, law enforcement, insurers, networks or database providers.
If the record is not cleared, the device may be passed to law enforcement, the rightful owner, an insurer or another relevant authority, or disposed of in line with legal requirements. No payment will be due. If payment has already been made, you must reimburse us immediately.
Counterfeit, Non-Genuine or Restricted Devices
If we receive a counterfeit, non-genuine, modified, tampered, cloned or legally restricted device, we will not process payment for it.
We may ask you to provide valid proof of ownership, proof of purchase, identification or further information. We may also check the device with fraud-prevention databases, networks, manufacturers, insurers, law enforcement or other relevant authorities where appropriate.
Counterfeit, non-genuine, lost, stolen, blocked, barred or legally restricted devices may not be returned if returning them would be unlawful, unsafe, or inconsistent with instructions from law enforcement, insurers, network providers, database providers or other relevant authorities.
If proof of ownership or requested information is not provided within 14 calendar days, we may continue to hold the device, pass it to the relevant authority, dispose of it lawfully, or recycle it responsibly where legally permitted. No payment will be due.
Postage, Packaging & Sending Options
Sell Techs may offer different sending options depending on your device, order value and location. These may include:
- Digital Label — we provide a QR label so you can pack your device securely and take it to the Post Office;
- Physical Label — we provide a pre-paid label so you can pack your device securely and take it to the Post Office;
- We Come to You — collection from your home or work address where available.
Where we provide a Royal Mail Tracked Returns 48 pre-paid label, it currently includes compensation up to £150, subject to Royal Mail’s own terms, exclusions and claim rules.
If you choose to arrange your own postage instead of using our pre-paid returns label, you are responsible for choosing a tracked and suitably insured service that covers the value of your device.
For higher-value devices, we recommend using Royal Mail Special Delivery Guaranteed or another suitable insured service with sufficient cover for the device value.
Postal compensation limits, services and prices may change. Please check the latest Royal Mail or Post Office terms before sending your device.
Please pack your device securely using protective packaging. Use a strong, rigid box and enough padding so the device cannot move or switch on during transit. Please keep proof of postage, tracking details and photos of the package before sending.
We are not responsible for loss or damage caused by inadequate packaging or courier handling before the device is delivered to us, except where the law says we remain responsible.

RETURN POSTAGE & PACKAGING
We offer FREE No quibble returns. (If you're not completely happy with the final price we'll return your device for free.)
*free return does not include incomplete/incorrect orders, wrong devices, locked devices, counterfeit products or selected good condition but we receive broken devices.
Free return may not apply if the device received is a different model, regional specification or keyboard layout from the one selected. You may be responsible for the reasonable return cost.
Returns
If you decline a revised offer, we will return your device free of charge where the device was accurately described and otherwise complies with these Terms.
Free return does not apply to devices that are incorrect, incomplete, account locked, counterfeit, non-genuine, lost, stolen, blocked, barred, subject to finance or ownership dispute, unsafe to post, misgraded, or otherwise outside these Terms.
If a return cannot be delivered because of incorrect address details, failed delivery attempts or failure to collect from the courier, you may need to contact us to arrange another delivery and may be responsible for the cost.
Where a device is returned, accessories, boxes, cases, chargers, SIM cards, memory cards or packaging sent with the device may not be returned.
Return Fees
A return fee may apply where the device was incorrectly described, materially misgraded, incomplete, account locked, unsafe to post, counterfeit, non-genuine, legally restricted, subject to ownership concerns, or otherwise outside these Terms. Any return fee must be reasonable and will be explained to you before return is arranged.
If you send a different device, model, storage size, network type, quantity or item from the one submitted in your trade-in request, or you use our pre-paid postage for an item that does not match your trade-in request, free return does not apply and you may be responsible for the reasonable direct cost of returning the item to you.
Where a return fee applies, we may ask you to pay the return fee before the device is returned. We will not charge a return fee where the revised offer is due only to a normal market-price change or an error that is not caused by inaccurate information supplied by you.
Payments
Payments are made by bank transfer, PayPal or cheque, depending on the payment method selected at order placement and availability at the time of processing.
Same-day payments apply only to devices received, checked and accepted before 2pm, Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays.
Payment times may vary depending on inspection requirements, revised offers, fraud checks, account-lock checks, ownership checks, payment providers, banks and other third parties outside our control.
You are responsible for entering payment details correctly. We are not responsible for payment delays or losses caused by incorrect payment details supplied by you, except where the law says we remain responsible.
We may delay or withhold payment where ownership, account lock, condition, fraud, database, legal or compliance checks are required.
Unclaimed Devices
If we cannot complete an order because we need a response from you, we will contact you using the email address provided with your order. This may include revised offers, account-lock issues, ownership checks, return arrangements, return-fee requests or further information requests.
If we receive no response after reasonable contact attempts, we may place the device on hold. If we receive no response for 90 days regarding the processing, unlocking, payment, return or collection of your device, the device may be treated as unclaimed and may be responsibly recycled, disposed of or otherwise dealt with in line with these Terms and applicable law.
Please make sure your contact details are correct and check your inbox, junk and spam folders after sending your device.
Business Customers
If you submit a trade-in request on behalf of a business, you confirm that you are authorised to act for that business and that the business has full legal authority to sell the device or devices.
Business customers must provide accurate business, VAT, invoice, ownership and payment details where requested. Consumer-only rights may not apply to business transactions.
Liability
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or any rights that cannot be excluded under consumer law.
We are not responsible for losses that are not a foreseeable result of our breach of these Terms, or for business losses where you are acting as a consumer.
We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control, including courier disruption, payment provider delays, system outages, database checks, legal restrictions, law enforcement requests, severe weather, strikes, network issues or compliance with laws and regulations.
Complaints
If you have a complaint or need help with an order, please contact us through our Contact Us page or our Complaints Procedure page. Please include your order number, device model, tracking number and a clear summary of the issue.
If we cannot resolve your complaint, we will explain our final position. We will also provide the name and website of an appropriate accredited Alternative Dispute Resolution provider and confirm whether Sell Techs agrees to use that ADR process.
If your complaint relates to personal data, please contact us at privacy@selltechs.co.uk . You can also read our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy .
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you are a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also have rights under the laws and courts of the country where you live.
Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights.
These Terms explain how Sell Techs handles quotes, device checks, revised offers, postage, payments, returns, data removal, locked devices, complaints and legal checks.
